Company History

The NOJAK story began when Energy, Inc., a small independent oil company in Northern Indiana, embarked on a quest to find a better way to lift fluid from their oil and gas wells. Like all operators, Energy, Inc., faced overwhelming problems that had no existing solutions: repair and maintenance of beam pumps made profit forecasting impossible; labor costs - and the lack of reliable labor - drained their cash flow; hazardous beam pumps drove their insurance rates higher each year; fear of spills and equipment failure required their constant attention. And while geological studies indicated profitable reserves on their leases, their antiquated equipment could not effectively or cost-efficiently pump it.

In 1994, Dr. John Marvel, President of Energy, Inc., assembled a team of engineers and together they began developing a technology that would use compressed air to lift fluid. The new technology was initially self-funded and tests began on under-producing marginal wells owned by Energy, Inc. The Department of Energy, seeing the limitless potential in the new technology and understanding the far-reaching impact it could have on American oil and gas production, provided a grant for research, development and testing.

The results were instantly positive. Three generations of product revisions followed, each supplemented by extensive field-testing. Finally, an efficient, virtually maintenance and labor free system existed, designed and built by career oilmen, fortified by five years of rigorous testing.

In 2007 Kenda Capital, the manager for the Shell Technology Fund I B.V. primarily funded by Royal Dutch Shell, noticed the technology as one that had great promise and jointly Energy and the Kenda Company Optilift are going forward together to meet the challenges of the industry.

Today, under the direction of NOJAK President Dan Roberts, a board of knowledgeable, forward-thinking experts and an advisory council made up of some of the industry's most prominent thought leaders, NOJAK is bringing a competitive edge to oil and gas producers of all sizes. By dramatically reducing labor costs and virtually eliminating downtime and repairs, NOJAK pumps are revolutionizing the industry.

NOJAK remains as committed as ever to the American Oil and Gas Industry. By offering the best warranties in the business, trade-in arrangements on outmoded beam pumps and turnkey solutions to tap new reserves, NOJAK Pumping Solutions are realizing Dr. Marvel's vision and ushering in a new era of energy production.
